Venue: Online (Zoom) —Max: 100 participants

Theme: Avenues of collaboration for higher education between India and Japan: Selected deliberations

Speaker: Prof. Kinjal AHIR (Professor, Department of Economics, Sardar Patel University)

Abstract:
Indian higher education is the world’s largest by the number of institutes and second largest in terms of enrolment in higher education.
Internationalization of higher education has manifested in several forms in India. However, out of 46,878 inbound students to India, 47 students were from Japan (including 22 males and 25 females).

Similarly, out of 1,324,954 outbound students from India, 1,302 students were studying in Japan in 2022. Recent Indian regulatory changes have opened various avenues of collaboration for higher education with the world, besides the pre-existing traditional collaborations.

The deliberations in this seminar intend to first introduce selected stylized facts of Indian higher education compared to Japanese higher education.
An introductory comparison of Japanese and Indian higher education would put into perspective the avenues of collaboration between the two countries. Subsequently, within these two higher education systems, avenues of collaboration will be explored in the seminar.
