The National Institution for Academic Degrees and Quality Enhancement of Higher Education (NIAD-QE) held the annual Forum entitled “Data Science of Higher Education: Toward the Construction and Promotion of Data Infrastructure” virtually on September 26, 2023.

Higher education institutions generate a wide variety of information. Public accessibility of such information constitutes an important component of the quality assurance system of higher education in Japan, and integrating the information into one robust data infrastructure would serve the needs of higher education institutions themselves, quality assurance agencies, policymaking authorities, and the society as well.

This year, NIAD-QE invited practicing experts from the US and UK to share their experiences of working with such data infrastructure and discussed the future development of improved availability of information of higher education in Japan.
