Without going back to the founding periods, we can consider that the beginning of the 19th century marks the start of an unprecedented expansion of the foreign presence within higher education institutions in the countries of Central and Western Europe (Germany, Switzerland, France, Belgium, etc.), which are the main host countries.<br \/>In France, International student mobility constitutes an important dimension of higher education history since the Middle Ages and the birth of the first universities. Particularly in Europe, they have been renewed since the 19th century, taking new paths. <br \/>Since the mid-20th century, they have become institutionalized and intensified, with the establishment of exchange programs, partnerships, various instruments and mechanisms to encourage mobility, under the influence of the strategies and policies of States, the European Union, and other supranational politico-economic entities regarding internationalization. <br \/>In a context of globalization, these mobilities are at the heart of the socio-political, geopolitical, and economic dynamics of states. How have they been renewed, particularly in France, over the last decade? This is what we will attempt to present and analyze, drawing on recent official data.<br \/><br \/>KEYWORDS : France, international student mobilities, elites training, internationalization of higher education.<br \/><br \/>\u25a0Bio<br \/>Dr. Yamina BETTAHAR is Emeritus in Sociology and History of sciences at Lorraine University (Nancy, France).
