In particular, this chapter aims to deepen our understanding of recent developments in outbound study-abroad programmes in Japanese higher education, particularly in response to successive top-down government policy changes around 2010. Furthermore, while existing research primarily focused on inbound international students\u2019 experiences, this chapter explores the experiences of Japanese students in outbound study-abroad programmes\u2014an area that remains relatively unknown.
