English has become a universal language against the economic activities based on free trade, increasing in the number of international students due to the expansion of global higher education demand, and increasing to interest in the ranking of world universities whose main indicators are research outcomes in English. These are one of the factors to promote the establishment of English degree programs at non-English speaking universities. Thanks to G30 (Global 30) and TGU (Top Global University Japan), there are English degree programs in 38 universities and 65 faculties in Japan, 2020. These English degree programs need to accept Japanese and foreign high school students, however, most English degree programs are facing the problem about small number of applicants. This is because English degree program was additionally established as one of the faculty in undergraduate school so that they could be found without significantly changing the existing university organization system. Now, this caused the problems that the number of student enrolment and incoming student to English degree programme are small.

The purpose of this research is to examine the differences between Japanese and foreign high school students in career development for English degree programme in Japan. This research focus on the influences of seniors, friends, and mother as significant others in previous studies on career development of high school students and clarify based on an interview survey.

■Program
16:00-16:20 Presentation
16:20-17:00 Discussion

■Language
English

■Note
・Participation fee is free (maximum number: 30)
・Working language is English.
・This seminar will be held online (through Zoom) .
