{"id":2900,"date":"2016-07-25T14:45:44","date_gmt":"2016-07-25T05:45:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/rihe.hiroshima-u.ac.jp\/wp\/en\/?page_id=2900"},"modified":"2022-04-04T11:10:02","modified_gmt":"2022-04-04T02:10:02","slug":"interested","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/rihe.hiroshima-u.ac.jp\/en\/educational-activities\/interested\/","title":{"rendered":"Message for Future Students"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The graduate programs of RIHE were established in 1986.\u00a0 By the 2021 academic year, eighty-four students completed the Master&#8217;s program, and twenty have received their PhD degrees.\u00a0 Most of these graduates are now working in universities as academic or administrative staff.<\/p>\n<p>The primary purpose of RIHE\u2019s programs is to train higher education researchers and university administrators or staff. \u00a0The curricula of these programs follow a progression from basic to advanced courses in order to adequately prepare students for research in higher education. \u00a0RIHE welcomes many students with diverse academic, professional, and ethnic backgrounds.<\/p>\n<p>The backgrounds of RIHE students are diverse. \u00a0Some come directly from undergraduate colleges. \u00a0Others were adult students who studied with us while working at universities as administrative staff. \u00a0Others have some experience as academic researchers, while others began their careers working in private corporations. \u00a0We also have some students from other countries. \u00a0Our students differ in age, gender, undergraduate academic major, college from which graduated, and previous career. \u00a0The career goals of students after graduation are also diverse. \u00a0This diversity is our strength! \u00a0This seldom happens in graduate programs of Japanese universities. \u00a0We can learn many things from each other, and stimulate each others&#8217; studies.<\/p>\n<p>Many changes are required to improve the current Japanese higher education system. \u00a0The academic environment is rapidly changing, and we are faced with many problems and tasks. \u00a0Higher Education as an academic field did not develop from one specific discipline. \u00a0It developed as a multi-disciplinary research subject. \u00a0People approach \u00a0higher education research from various disciplines and using different methods of analysis. \u00a0This situation is what makes research in higher education so attractive. \u00a0Each researcher can choose the methods that suit him or her best.<\/p>\n<p>Faculty members of RIHE are not only first-class scholars in Higher Education but also great teachers and advisors. \u00a0An outstanding characteristic of our graduate programs is that the teacher-student ratio is quite low. \u00a0Classes are small, both in lectures and seminars. \u00a0Students can freely ask their questions and express their opinions, and there are many discussions.<\/p>\n<p>RIHE seeks to conduct higher education research with many colleagues to make it more energetic and interesting. \u00a0Anyone interested in higher education research or our programs or has any questions should not hesitate to contact us at any time.<\/p>\n<p>\u300aRelated links\u300b \u00a0(Japanese webpage)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/rihe.hiroshima-u.ac.jp\/education\/curriculum-design\/\">Classes and faculty in charge\u00a0<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/rihe.hiroshima-u.ac.jp\/education\/research_students\/\">About research student<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The graduate programs of RIHE were established in 1986.\u00a0 By the 2021 academic year, eighty-four students completed the Master&#8217;s program, and twenty have received their PhD degrees.\u00a0 Most of these graduates are now working in universities as academic or administrative staff.
