Using Times Higher Education Young University Rankings 2024 data, this study analyzes 228 EU and 271 Asian universities to examine whether they display strategic diversity or convergence. Four distinct profiles emerge among EU institutions\u2014High-Quality Comprehensive, Balanced Development, International-Focused, and Resource-Constrained\u2014reflecting varied approaches to research, teaching, internationalization, and industry engagement, with distinct performance outcomes. Similar patterns appear in Asia. The study challenges convergence assumptions, emphasizing strategic diversity\u2019s role in strengthening higher education ecosystems and informing policy and leadership decisions.
